#RealGroundbreakers – Get involved in the social media challenge!

Dear Colleagues,

We are not alone. IFAD invites all IFAD Partners to join the celebration of International Women’s Day 2019 showing solidarity with rural women, the #realgroundbreakers!

The #RealGroundbreakers is a global campaign for the economic and social empowerment of rural women and girls, initiated by IFAD.

The advocacy initiative is based on the recognition that women make up 43% of actors in the global agricultural labour force and with greater investment have the potential to eradicate poverty and feed millions of more people. Together with partners, our aim is to generate greater awareness, resources and support for rural women and girls.

How to get involved:

  • View the campaign website: www.realgroundbreakers.org
  • Share the attached e-cards (social media assets available at https://bit.ly/2SC0Ulz)
  • Take part in the social media challenge below and upload photos/stories of groundbreaking rural women.

SOCIAL MEDIA CHALLENGE:

Show your solidarity with rural women

Upload a photo and celebrate a woman who grows or provides food!

In honour of International Women’s Day 2019, IFAD is launching a global search and photo collage on social media of groundbreaking women who grow and provide food, to call attention to the women and girls in developing countries with the amazing potential to feed a hungry world.

We want you to get involved. Please email us (gender@ifad.org and webteam@ifad.org) or upload a photo or video on social media (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook) of an inspiring rural woman or food provider from your projects who is growing more, earning more or now more likely to send their children to school and feed her family more nutritious foods. Describe why she inspires you or others.

Make sure to use the #RealGroundbreakers and #WomensDay hashtags in your social media posts and tag @IFAD on Twitter and Facebook and @IFADnews on Instagram.

Thank you! On Women’s Day, we want to create a tidal wave of powerful photos and stories of successful rural women and farmers around the world. We will share and post everything you send us.

Best regards,

IFAD Gender and Social Inclusion Team and Communications Division
