In June 2023, CNT (The National Telecommunications Company) presented the new version of the Junt@s mobile application, available for free in the Play Store and Android Store. Designed with a friendlier and simpler interface, this app is an important ally in the prevention of violence against women in Ecuador.
With the slogan “Together we are responsible for preventing gender violence”, CNT positions itself as an equitable company and is aware that violence against women is the responsibility of all of us. In addition, this public company from Ecuador has understood that fighting this problem is always good business. Investing in prevention not only contributes to the well-being and health of the collaborators, but also to the productivity and quality of services provided by the public company.
That is why, thanks to the sustained commitment of those who comprise it, CNT has sensitized and trained all its collaborators, at national level, with the online course “Empresa Segura: líder en tolerancia cero frente a la violencia contra las mujeres” (Safe Company: leader in zero tolerance towards violence against women) developed by PreViMujer/GIZ, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor. In addition, it has opened its doors to carry out a diagnosis of business costs resulting from violence against women, and in doing so, becoming an example for other companies.
The prevention of violence against women in the palm of your hand
The Junt@s app is one of the greatest contributions of CNT. This digital tool was designed to detect early signs of violence, offer support resources and services, and generate more awareness in Ecuadorian society concerning this problem. In 2015, the app had already obtained the second place in the GIZ global gender competition.
Now, together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Spotlight Initiative, commissioned by the European Union, and with the technical support of the GIZ PreViMujer program, CNT presents the Junt@s update to provide a better experience for the users.
The new version of the app has a friendlier and easier-to-use interface. It contains up-to-date information on how to act in the face of violence against women, links to support organizations, testimonials, tests to identify signs of violence, emergency numbers, and direct access to the FGE (Ecuadorian Attorney General’s Office) complaint form. In addition, it has an emergency button connected directly to ECU911, and the option to register family and friends’ contacts to send them the location in emergency situations.
Together with the Junt@s app, we can prevent violence against women! Download the app today and learn more about this pioneering initiative:
