GIZ has been active in China since 1979, focusing on promoting sustainable and inclusive development through various projects and programs. In recent years, GIZ has placed a significant emphasis on green development, working closely with Chinese partners to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable economic growth. One of the key areas of focus for GIZ in China is climate change mitigation and adaptation. GIZ supports the Chinese government in implementing its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement, including efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the use of renewable energy. For example, GIZ has been working with the National Energy Administration (NEA) to promote the use of solar energy in rural areas, providing technical assistance and training to local communities.
