Indonesia (Timor Leste) – “10 Things to Know about Gender in Indonesia”

IMPRESSIONS OF THE EVENT AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

During the Gender Week 2015 the gender working group sent an E-mail to all GIZ employees in Indonesia and Timor Leste and inform about 10 relevant facts related to gender.

We inform GIZ employees in an easy-to-read way about the current situation of gender equality in Indonesia and Timor Leste presented in the form of relevant data. We provide some information about the current gender equality index, prevalence of child/early marriage, prevalence of FGM, maternal mortality, percentage of political participation and labour force participation, education, trafficking etc.

Did you know that: In Indonesia maternal mortality ratio is still at 190 (deaths per 100.000 live births) about 7 times higher than in Malaysia or Thailand and even higher than in Cambodia?
