Women in Namibia have traditionally gotten the short end of the stick with regards to land ownership. Even though over 40% of rural households are headed by women, they still struggle against traditional practices and prejudices.
The special initiative “One World-No Hunger: Strengthening Women’s Land Use and Ownership Rights in Sub-Sahara Africa” produced the movie “A Land for Women” to create awareness about equal land rights for women in Namibia.
The movie was well received by all participants and the discussion with the representatives from “One World-No Hunger: Strengthening Women’s Land Use and Ownership Rights in Sub-Sahara Africa”-project were interesting touching on issues such as how to address the holding on to traditional practices and corruption.
