“I really enjoyed the self-defense training course organized by GIZ Ecuador on the occasion of the International Women´s Day and this year´s Gender Week. It helped me to acquire and try out some practical self-defense skills and tactics in case I have to physically defend myself one day. It did boost my self-confidence, at least until the moment the instructor addressed all the female participants with the words: “Regardless of what we learned here today, do not ever walk alone at night and always make sure you are not the only woman in a large group of men”.
