The GIZ Vocational Training Sri Lanka (VTSL) project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), aims to align vocational training with the local market demands. The project works in collaboration with technical vocational training institutes and private sector partners to achieve its goal.
To mark the International Women’s Day 2023, VTSL project in partnership with the Nucleus Foundation collaborates with the Eastern Provincial Council (Sri Lanka) and the District Secretariat -Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) to conduct a promotional campaign to promote “gender equality in the technology industry by encouraging entrepreneurship, IT education, employment opportunities, celebrating women in the workforce, addressing gender inequality, supporting the development of technology for social good, and creating a supportive community for women in technology”. The event will delve into the impact of the digital gender gap on social and economic inequalities, as well as spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces.
There is a social media campaign from 15th to 31st of March 2023 combined with a physical event on the 23rd of March in Trincomalee District, welcoming youth (particularly female) from the Eastern and the Northwestern Province. It is expected to reach nearly 1000 youth and other members of the public.
