GIZ India : Gender Market Place : ”When ‘Attitude Meets Action”

GIZ India Gender Day 2020 : When ”Attitude Meets Action”

We at GIZ India kicked off the Gender Week 2020 with a Gender Breakfast Meeting organized on Monday, 3rd March by the project – Womens Economic Empowerment (Her&Now). The Breakfast meeting focused on discussions around insights about bringing a feminist voice to local media and establishing women from marginalized rural communities – as journalists. The discussion was led by  an external speaker – Ms. Roshni Kapoor from Khabar Lahariya – India’s only women-led rural news channel.

We also observed our GIZ India Gender Day event on Thursday, 5th March 2020 at New Delhi. We aimed to create and foster an environment of peer learning, interactive exchange in the form of a GIZ India Gender Market Place which provided all colleagues the opportunity to engage with proven approaches that promote gender mainstreaming and an opportunity to showcase project specific gender impacts and contributions.  And, where better to begin with than with our recent achievements at the GIZ Gender Award 2020 where GIZ India was also a striking winner!

The GIZ India Country Director along with the GIZ India Portfolio Advisor along with the Gender Focal Point made strong opening remarks which reflected the commitment to ensure Diversity as a key  aspect to Gender Equality. The statement ‘’we should all be responsible for gender equality within the company’’ resounded the commitment of the Top Management of GIZ India. The market place buzzed with strategic conversations around gender mainstreaming activities in projects , with innovative displays of digital applications that support e-learning modules for health care women workers to understanding approaches that work in defying and smashing patriarchal systems of concepts of ‘households’ when it comes to access to social security, access to finance for women farmers etc.

Here are some pictures that reflected the mood!
