EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility (EUEI PDF)
Internal Workshop for Mainstreaming of Gender in EUEI PDF Portfolio
Date: February 24th, 2017
Venue: GIZ Headquarter, Haus 7
The European Union Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility (EUEI PDF) is a flexible instrument of the EU Energy Initiative (EUEI) supporting the creation of an enabling environment for the sustainable development of the energy sector across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Pacific. The EUEI PDF was established in 2004 and has since then been working on its core themes of energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
To fulfil its mandate to promote gender equity in the energy sector, in May 2013 the EUEI PDF developed the strategic document “Gender Briefing Notes” as well as two implementation tools “Gender Integration Checklist EUEI PDF Project Management” and “Gender Integration Checklist Renewable Energy Policy”. After three years, the management of the EUEI PDF aims to maximize the potential of these tools in order to mainstream gender in energy projects. From a strategic perspective, members of the EUEI PDF Steering Committee, such as Sweden, have prioritized gender empowerment in the energy sector. Furthermore, under the Gender Window of ElectriFI, the European Commission has established gender inclusiveness and equity as a top priority in the promotion of sustainable energy, which further reinvigorates the necessity of the EUEI PDF to fulfil its gender Mandate.
