On 10 March the conference “Empowering Women through Access to Land” will take place in Tirana, Albania, jointly organised by GIZ and FAO, in cooperation with the International Union of Notaries. The conference will be organized into three panels. In each of the panel representatives of ministries, registration offices, notaries, equality bodies and NGOs from the region and international organizations will discuss on the importance of having the property registered, challenges, and success stories of gender equitable land management. Solutions and ways forward on how to improve women registration in land ownership will be discussed.
The conference will be preceded by a pre-conference workshop on 9 March. This will consist of a technical workshop during which participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia will reach a commitment concerning the steps necessary to implement the priority recommendations that emerged from the Legal Assessment Tools and SDG indicator 5.a.2 assessments, and will exchange ideas on good practices and lessons learned.
